Q&A with Owner, Desiree' Landt

Give a high level overview of your business.
We help people live better lives through housecleaning service (mostly residential).
 
How did the idea for your business come about? 
I had served the real estate community providing home warranty service for 13 years. I noticed a lack of professionalism and standards in the housecleaning options. I truly LOVE to clean and even more so LOVE to clean for others, and I simply started from there.

Describe your typical customer and what you love about your customers. 
They are either a working professional and/or managing a busy life with kids and pets and an overwhelming schedule. It is a great honor to serve them in this way. We can see evidence of hobbies they've picked up or life events that they've been able to manage better (with more fun).

How did your journey lead you to Colorado Enterprise Fund?
I am not an expert in business. I went into an enormous amount of debt in the 10 years I've been doing this. I have learned how to be profitable and therefore dig out of the massive debt I found myself in. I reached out to CO Enterprise Fund after researching once more for anyone willing to help.

What was your experience like when trying to get funding for your business? 
I had looked for funding periodically to consolidate debt and was always turned away (I was not profitable and not paying myself anything, so I could never blame them). I didn't really know if it would work with CEF, it was kind of a last-chance effort.

What was your experience like in working with CEF?
Thankfully, my business was starting to be profitable and show good (albeit short) history of making gains in the right direction. I have never experienced an easier process getting a loan. The entire team at CEF is amazing to work with. I very much appreciated all of their effort.

What were you able to do with the funding you received from CEF? 
I was able to consolidate debt to a lower interest rate that eased the panic and anxiety of coming up with HUGE payments to the credit cards/cash advances that were only scratching the surface.

What is on the horizon for you and your small business?
Continue to grow my business to 7 figures this year & be debt-free. I can better support my beloved team members, local non-profits & other charities by providing no-cost cleaning services. It is amazing and a critical moment in my small business owner journey that CEF was willing to help.

What recent success(es) have you experienced in your business?  
We just went through a rate increase on our legacy clients; we lost many. But, having the funds available for marketing, etc have enabled us to barely skip a beat.
