Funds used for businesses residing in the City of Boulder 

Boulder Microloan Program 

CEF is proud to have partnered with the City of Boulder since 2009. We partner together to provide loans and invest in small businesses within the city limits of Boulder. This fund was created to provide an affordable, flexible loan solution for those not able to obtain traditional loan financing to start or grow their business.

Who Can Apply?

  • New or existing business whose primary office is located in the City of Boulder
  • Small businesses that may not be eligible for financing through a traditional bank
  • Generally, businesses with revenues less than $2M/year 
  • Generally, small businesses with less than 20 full-time employees

Loan Amount & Terms:

  • Microloans: Up to $50k (If you need a larger loan amount, CEF has other loan products to supplement this lending source.)
  • Terms vary based on use and amount
  • Fixed rate 

Loan Use Examples Include, but Not Limited To:

  • Working capital
  • Equipment
  • Inventory
  • Lease payments or commercial loan obligations
  • Refinance or debt consolidation
  • Tenant finish or property improvements
  • Purchase of a business
