Q&A with Owner, Mitchell Mattern

Give a high level overview of your business. What products or services you offer, where you're located, etc.
Coffee shop that has been around for 10 years now and I have been the owner for almost a year. Serving many different drink and food options as well as frozen yogurt. Located in the heart of Johnstown Colorado.

What was the process like to start your small business?
The process was actually pretty simple. It was a very easy transition.

What neighborhood is your business located in and what do you love about that location?
I am a very proud Colorado native, especially Northern Colorado where I was born and raised. So to be able to open my business in Greeley and have the opportunity to serve this city and the surrounding communities in Northern Colorado means so much to me and my family.

Describe your typical customer and what you love about your customers.
Located in old downtown Johnstown Colorado. Love the location because it is a grownming small town with many amazing people who love to support small businesses.

How did your journey lead you to Colorado Enterprise Fund?
I originally tried to get a loan from a larger corporate bank and it would have been a very long drawn out process and they referred me to CEF.

What was your experience like when trying to get funding for your business? Ie, how long had you been looking? Did you experience difficulties, etc.?
Trying to get funding from the bank wasnt an option applying for a small business loan through SBA would have been a lot more paperwork and headache. As soon as i contacted CEF the process didnt take very long. The process was very smooth from start to finish.

What ultimately made you decide to go with CEF as your lender?
CEF Representatives were very helpful and easy to work with.

What were you able to do with the funding you received from CEF?
I was able to purchase an established business and continue a local business that has been a staple to the community for many years.

What's on the horizon for you and your small business?
Hopefully in the near future i would be looking for some more funding to open another location and build the business bigger and better to be able to offer all the great things that we have to many more people.

What is something you're looking forward to in the next 3-6 months in your business?
I hope to grow to another have more then one location.
